摘要:In this contribution, I will give an overall (and, of course, biased) view of the general status of DFT. I will stress that, in contrast to ab initio methods, DFT is the only framework that allows the study of excited states, including those lying at relatively high energy. Accordingly, I will focus on the nuclear response and discuss some recent advances. In particular, I will focus on: the nuclear Giant Resonances and the link with the nuclear equation of state and nuclear astrophysics, the damping mechanisms of Giant Resonances, and the projection methods to restore symmetries in the calculations of deformed systems.

报告人简介:Gianluca Colò is a full professor at the department of physics, University of Milano. He received the PhD at the University of Milano in 1992 and joined the university since 1995. His research activity has been focused on theoretical nuclear structure physics, yet with interests in nuclear reactions and the application of nuclear theory methods to atomic and molecular physics: in this respect, he is the author of a monograph on molecular clusters. He has more than 250 publications with about 7000 citations (h-index 48). He also served in scientific and program advisory committees of various laboratories and the editor of the International Journal of Modern Physics E.
