The project established a system for routine measurement of electron dose and brought about a complete experimental approach for high-dose dosimetry. The paper reports some general properties of domestic radiochromic pararosaniline cyanide (PR-CN) dye with polyvinyl butyral (PVB)-based film used, for measuring electron dose. The optical absorption spectrum, the change in optical density as a function of thickness, distribution of the background optical density and spread of response, long-term stability, linear relationship between the change in optical density per unit thickness and absorbed dose, the minimum detectable limit, effect of environmental factors on background and response after irradiation, effect of light-exposition and the time of establishing complete response have been experimentally investigated.

14C-butachlor and 14C-oxadiazon could be released from four kinds of CR formulations into water respectively, and the release percentage of each herbicide increased with time, which could be expressed by regression equations (very obvious positive relationship). The release percentages of 14C-herbicides from CR formulations were related to herbicide, CR formulation and water type. Total recovery including 14C-released and 14C-left in formulations for each 14C-herbicide was high at the 56th day after treatment. Some of the released 14C-butachlor in water could be hydrolysed although under dark condition. The rate of hydrolysis was influenced by water type and formulations.

A formula describing the percentage depth dose curve for 60Co γ beams is theoretically developed. The formula only needs a few data determined by measuring directly in water phantom and can be used to calculate the whole set of percentage depth dose (PDD) and tissuse air ratios (TAR) for the wide range of SSD (from 20cm to 100cm), field size (from 4cm × 4cm to 20cm × 20cm) and depth (from dm to 30cm). The data calculated by the formula fits very well to the data currently used in clinics with the maximum error less than 1% and probable error of about 0.1%-0.3%. Using this formula can overcome the time-exhausting work in measurement of PDD and TAR.

Combining the charged particle activation analysis (CPAA) and the channeling technique, partial concentrations of carbon on different crystal lattice locations of GaAs were calculated. The results show that at lower total concentration (≈0.3 ppm), carbon atoms occupy principally the octahedral and displaced octahedral interstitial positions, but at higher total concentration (≈2 ppm), the substitutional carbon plays a principal role.

The paper describes a method of selenium determination by neutron activation analysis using gamma-gamma coincidence spectrometer with Compton suppression. The analysis results of some standard reference material from NBS or IAEA are reported. The differences between our data and reported values are discussed.

In this paper, the relationship between radiation crosslinking parameter β and the molecular internal rotating steric factor (σ) for fluoropolymers were studied. An expression calculating the molecular internal rotating steric factor of fluoropolymers, σ = 1.44+(β-0.206)/1.946, was established. σ value obtained by this method is in agreement with that given in the literature.

Energy straggling for fast proton beams in Ni, Al, Ti, Cu, In and Sb solids and N, O, F, B, S, Cl and air gases were calculated using an effective IPM potential which contains an adjustable parameter. The energy and Z2 (target atomic number) dependence of the energy straggling for proton in materials are obtained when Bonderup and Hvelplund's formulation is used. The results are compared with some experiments in detail, and show in good agreement with them.

The ring-and side-chain-14C-labeled probimane, 1,2-bis (4-morpholinomethyl-3,5-dioxopiperazin-1-yl) propane were synthesized from acetic acid-1-14C in 4 steps and from 14C-formaldehyde in 1 step respectively. The radiochemical yeild for the ring labeling was 28.1%; for the side-chain labeling was 18.5%.

The samples consisting of 100nm Al or Ag film on optical glass substrate were irradiated by a beam of Xe 5 × 1015 to 2 × 1016 cm-2 with energy 320 keV. The adhesion of films on substrates was tested by Xe+ irradiation. Optical character was measured by spectrophotometer. The ion mixing amount was measured by RBS. The results showed that after ion irradiating the adhesion of the film on the glass is enhanced. The adherent strength is greater than 10 kg/cm2. The thermal stability of the films is good. The irradiated film is more optically efficient, the surface is smooth and rendered more corrosion resistance. The mechanism of the film adhesion was discussed.

(2- 3H) bromoacetamide, a radiotracer of oncomelanicide for various biological studies, has been synthesized by multiple organic reactions from 3H- sodium acetate. The radiochemical purity checked by radio- HPLC was 95% and the specific activity was 11.3GBq/mmol (305mCi/mmol). Moreover, 3H- NMR spectrum indicated that all tritium atoms were labelled on the position 2.
